The board of the Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship foundation is delighted to announce Gemma Blumenshine as the recipient of its annual scholarship to the Irish National Stud in conjunction with KEMI. Each year the charity awards a number of scholarships dedicated to the memory of Gerry Dilger. Gemma's profile and strong work ethic impressed the board as the candidate who is most deserving and suits what will be a unique experience and opportunity to be a part of the famed Irish National Stud program in 2022.
Gemma grew up in Clovis, California, majored in Animal Science and minored in Dairy Industries at California Polytechnic State University. She started riding and competing in hunters and equitation from the age of eleven and has already gained much experience in training, schooling and lessons. In addition, Gemma has enjoyed training off-track thoroughbreds to jump. Her recent work experience through KEMI at Castleton Lyons here in Lexington makes her a well-rounded candidate.
She commented, "I am so lucky to be a part of KEMI and to be recognized with the Gerry Dilger Irish National Stud scholarship and am so grateful to his family".
Claire Dilger said, "We are so proud of Gemma and excited to see all that she will accomplish ! Thank you to all our donors, and those who help keep my dad's memory alive".
